Product Branding

product-branding

In order to be successful in any business you must create awareness of your product. Product branding is a process in which you build and maintain your brand at the product level. This is a highly important step in the product marketing plan. In order to reach customers on a wide level, you must build a name for your product that people know. Your product brand will be your identity which will portray a specific offering from a know source, your company. Again, product branding is a highly important aspect to the success of your business.

Once you have branded your product, that product will have a reputation. It is very difficult for some people to remember things that do not stick in their minds. Branding your product will enable your customers to remember it much easier. They will not have to search for items that are similar to yours, they will simply know what product they want and go straight to ordering it. Imagine if you sold perfume. Now, if someone was more than satisfied with your perfume, but they could not remember the name of that product, this is part of a good marketing plan. they may use the internet to search for scents that are associated with your perfume. You run the risk here of a customer finding another perfume from another company before they remember the name of yours. In this scenario you have potentially lost a customer because you have not developed branding for your product not to mention a good, solid marketing plan. It also helps when consumers have visual reminders of your product. Things such as refrigerator magnets and key rings help customers to remember your product name, thus keeping them for yourself instead of giving them to the competition.

Helping your customers to remember your product can be from your distinct color combination, behavior or even a distinct style to your product. You should develop identifiers for your product that will stick in the minds of your customers.

Product branding is also beneficial because when people have a positive experience with a brand, they are more likely to purchase that product again. If your customers are highly satisfied with your product then they will order it again. Not only that, but they are much more likely to purchase related items of the same brand. Product branding helps you to create loyalty to your brand from your customers.

One of the main reasons that companies create product branding is to provide their customers with familiarity. Product branding also has an effect on consumers who are not yet customers. Familiarity induces instant approval for most consumers. Someone who has never purchased your product, but who has come across your product brand would be much more likely to purchase or even recommend your product to someone else even though they have no personal experience with your company. When someone sees an ad for your product, has an ink pen with your company logo on their desk or reads about your product in a newspaper or magazine that they trust, they are much more likely to spread the word of your product to someone else.

Familiarity with your product will also help you to lower your advertising and marketing expenses. Although it does take an investment to create a brand for your product, once you have branded that product, you can maintain it without a massive investment for marketing. You will not have to relay the entire reason for your product each time you market it. Once your product is branded, people will instantly know about it simply because they have seen your ads or heard your radio announcements. Product branding is a highly important aspect of your overall business success. Creating a brand for yourself or company and your product will allow consumers to become familiar with that product, thus ensuring that when they need what you are offering; they will know instantly where to go.
